Temporary Night Shelter
DENS began in 1998 as a temporary night shelter, operating during the harsh winter months and rotating between 7 local churches.

| 2003 |
Permanent Night Shelter
DENS became a permanent operation in 2003 with an emergency night shelter operating 365 nights a year, and its first move-on accommodation house alongside it.

| 2005 |
Day Centre
In 2005 DENS opened a temporary day centre in a local church hall for 3 afternoons per week. In 2006 the day centre moved to its permanent location at Bury Lodge.

DENS Dacorum Foodbank & DENS Dacorum Rent Aid
DENS Dacorum Foodbank founded in new warehouse premises, named 'The Hub' in October 2010. Dacorum Rent Aid merges with DENS October 2011.
