About DENS

Since 2003 DENS has supported thousands of homeless and vulnerable individuals. All of this has been achieved with the help of over 250 volunteers, as well as through the backing of local community groups, schools, faith groups, businesses and with the assistance from a number of charitable trusts.

Vision, Mission & Values
DENS houses, supports and empowers vulnerable single homeless people, and others in crisis, to transform their lives.

DENS began in 1998 as a temporary night shelter, rotating between 7 churches during winter. In 2003 the permanent Night Shelter opened, which was replaced in 2015 by The Elms.

DENS is very fortunate to be governed by the Board of Directors (Trustees) who have expertise in a number of different fields with one aim in common – to tackle homelessness in Dacorum.
We rely on support from local businesses, and with so many ways to get involved, both DENS and your company can benefit from any help you can offer.
Find out more about DENS and homelessness from our quarterly publications and new updates.
Reports & Newsletters
DENS Annual Review and Annual Reports & Accounts give you an overview of how DENS help many homeless and vulnerable people with a range of services, with the help of many generous supporters and volunteers in our community.
