A Christmas Carol – Terms & Conditions
By registering and ticking the box on the booking form, you agree to abide by the terms and conditions as stated below, including any further instructions or regulations displayed or given on the day of the event by staff or officials.
Event Details:
A performance reading of ‘A Christmas Carol’, Sunday 30th November 2025 at Berkhamsted Civic Centre.
1. Event Participation and Eligibility
- I understand that these terms and conditions apply to the DENS event detailed above.
- Children: This event is a three-person cast reading of ‘A Christmas Carol’. It is not a play or pantomime and thus it is deemed not suitable for children under the age of 14 years. Those aged 14 to 17 years must be accompanied by a registered attending over 18-years old adult, who will take full responsibility for their safety and actions throughout the event.
- Babes in arms: This event is deemed not suitable for babes in arms.
- Pets: This event is not suitable for pets. Please advise DENS before purchasing tickets if you may need an assistance animal to attend with you.
2. Ticket Purchase
- I understand that attendance at this event is by ticket only, purchased directly from DENS, ahead of the date.
- Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be exchanged.
- I understand that DENS reserves the right to cancel, alter timings, reschedule and cancel and alter the required logistics of the event at any time. This is at the discretion of the Event Organisers and participants would be notified via email should this happen.
- In the eventuality that the event is cancelled and reschedule is not possible, we will offer ticket holders a refund.
- Tickets are non-transferrable and should not be re-sold.
- The contract for the purchase of tickets is formed as soon as DENS has processed your payment and will expire immediately after the performance of the event for which tickets have been purchased.
- The purchase is subject to and governed by these terms and conditions. For use of data see the DENS privacy policy.
- Physical tickets will not be issued. Joining instructions will be emailed ahead of the event – this is your ticket confirmation.
- All orders are subject to credit card approval and verification of billing address. Your credit card will not be charged until the end of the transaction.
- Tickets sold or transferred for commercial gain by anyone will be made void and the holder will be refused entry. DENS will not be held responsible for any tickets purchased through unauthorised methods.
- Tickets are sold subject to DENS’ right to make alterations to the cast, or advertised arrangements, discounts and prices rendered necessary by an unavoidable cause. DENS has the right to amend seating arrangements after a booking has been completed.
3. Venue
- DENS has entered into an agreement with Berkhamsted Civic Centre to host this event.
- Ticket holders must comply with all relevant statutes, safety announcements and venue regulations whilst at the event.
- All accessibility options are provided at the discretion of the venue, and availability cannot be guaranteed by DENS.
- Please inform DENS of any additional requirements you may have before booking tickets.
4. Attending the Performance
- Latecomers will not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance, to minimise disruption to other patrons.
- DENS reserves the right to provide alternative seats to those specified in the joining instructions in exceptional circumstances.
- Only food, drinks and confectionery purchased at the event may be consumed in the building.
- Ticket holders must not disturb other members of the audience with noisy food wrappers during a performance.
- The taking of photographs, the use of mobile phones and mobile devices and the making of any recordings of the performance is strictly prohibited unless otherwise specified.
- If ticket holders have any special requirements or concerns about any special effects which may be featured at the event, prior notice should be provided when ordering tickets. Special effects may include, without limitation, sound, audio visual, pyrotechnic effects or lighting effects.
- DENS will not be responsible for any loss, injury or damage to any person or property howsoever caused : (a) in any circumstances where there is no breach of a legal duty of care owed; (b) in circumstances where such loss or damage is not a reasonably foreseeable result of any such breach (save for death or personal injury resulting from our negligence); or (c) to the extent that any increase in any loss or damage results from breach by you of any of these terms and conditions.
- Nothing in these terms and conditions seeks to exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or another type of liability which cannot by law be excluded or limited.
- DENS will be under no liability whatsoever in the event of any damage arising through force majeure, which means any cause beyond our control including, without limitation, act of God, war, insurrection, riot, civil disturbances, acts of terrorism, fire, explosion, flood, theft of essential equipment, malicious damage, strike, lockout, weather, third party injunction, national defence requirements, acts or regulations of national or local governments.
- DENS reserves the right to refuse admission and reserves the right to request that ticket holders leave the event at any point on reasonable grounds and may take any appropriate action to enforce this right. By way of example, DENS may remove a ticket holder who:
- has behaved in a manner which, in the reasonable opinion of the management has, or is likely to affect the enjoyment of other visitors; or
- uses threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour or in any way provokes or behaves in a manner which may provoke a breach of the peace; or
- in the reasonable opinion of the management is under the influence of drugs or has consumed an excessive amount of alcohol; or
- fails, when required, to produce proof of identity or age; or
- obstructs gangways, access-ways, exits, entrances or staircases, congregates in non-authorised areas
- is in breach of these terms and conditions.
5. Media and Privacy
- I understand and give my permission for my image to be captured (camera and film) by DENS and outside sources.
- I understand that these images may be used indefinitely to promote the work of DENS and its fundraising activities and that it is my responsibility to inform the event organiser at the time that I register should I wish such images of myself, or of the people in my care, not to be used.
- I understand that DENS will process my personal data for the purpose of my event application, and that they will never sell or swap my details with anyone. For more information on what DENS does with data, please see the privacy policy at www.dens.org.uk/privacy-policy.
- DENS will process your personal data for the purpose of your attendance at the event. We may keep you informed about our work, promotions and future events. If you would prefer not to be informed about future events, please let us know by emailing fundraising@dens.org.uk.
