DENS Coffee Project provides opportunities for people to learn barista and customer service skills and build their confidence, in a supportive environment.
Under the supervision of our coffee project manager, participants can start to learn the art of coffee making at our training sessions at The Elms hostel. They can then progress to helping run our coffee van at events or in the local area, or at our café.
The DENS Coffee Van is a popular fixture at DENS fundraising events, using our signature ‘sweet espresso’ blend sourced from local artisan roasters Smith’s Coffee Co to create fantastic aromatic coffees to lift the spirits of our event participants.
This coffee is also used at The Kitchen café – based in the atrium of the Forum, home to Dacorum Borough Council on The Marlowes in Hemel Hempstead. DENS runs this café in partnership with Sunnyside Rural Trust, selling hot drinks, sandwiches and treats to council staff and visitors Monday – Friday 8am-3:30pm.
In the future we hope to be able to offer booking of the coffee van to local businesses and individuals, to increase the income generated which funds the project. We also plan to open an additional café in our new DENS centre once construction is complete. So keep an eye on our social media for all the latest news!
