Launched in 2015, The Elms is a 44 bed facility providing temporary accommodation for the people of Dacorum.
For people who have come through other DENS services, DENS Move On provides support for a move into more independent living. For homeless people who can afford to rent but don’t have the funds for a deposit, DENS has arrangements with local landlords to provide a guarantee for 2 years in place of a deposit.
DENS Social Enterprises generate income to support our work and also develop employability skills and self-confidence in a supportive environment.
DENS Open Space is a community-based resource, providing a friendly, relaxed atmosphere for local people to meet new friends and have fun, as well as get support with job searching and more.
Each person coming to DENS has their own personal story, how they ended up homeless. Here are some of the real life stories from our service users.
At 49, Andy was comfortable in his life in Worcestershire with a good job, a house, and a wife and daughter. Three months later he was out of work, at the start of a divorce and homeless. Andy was left alone and with nowhere to go.
