Could you spare some time to help the community?

Our volunteers are at the very heart of DENS and underpin our services in so many ways to help us support those most vulnerable within our community.

As well as making a huge difference to us, volunteering has so many benefits. We have a  range of volunteering opportunities across our organisation and would love you to join our team.

Ad-hoc Volunteering Opportunities

Events and Fundraising Volunteering

Be a part of the action by volunteering at one of our legendary events! From pop-up promotional stands to our annual quiz night, Cycling Hillbuster to our flagship Sleepout, there are so many ways to get involved.

Event volunteering roles include:

  • Registration
  • Setting up equipment
  • Serving refreshments
  • Marshaling
  • Awarding our participants as they cross their finish line with a cheer, medal and friendly smile!

If you can spare a few hours at the weekend to help promote our events, hand out leaflets, or come along to one of our amazing events, our Fundraising Team would love to hear from you. For further information, please contact fundraising@dens.org.uk or call 01442 800268.

Please note that due to the Coronavirus pandemic we are not currently recruiting volunteers at this time.

Usual regular volunteer roles available are:

  • Receptionist at the Elms Hostel
  • Helping at the Foodbank

If you’d like to know when we’re recruiting volunteers again, sign up to our newsletter to be the first to find out.

Without the time and commitment, our volunteers offer, we would be unable to continue to support those most vulnerable within our community.

That’s why we are so proud that to have been awarded the prestigious Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This award recognises excellence in the voluntary activities carried out by groups, and is the highest award a voluntary group can get!

This is a true testament to the amazing people who volunteer at DENS and provide an incredible service to our community.
