OUR FOODBANK OFFERS A VITAL LIFELINE
It is a sad reality that, all across our community, vulnerable individuals and families find themselves struggling with empty cupboards and empty fridges, wondering where the next meal is coming from.
This can happen for a number of reasons, such as:
- Reduced income due to job loss
- Changes in benefit payments
- Families unable to feed their children during the school holidays
- Currently homeless or living in temporary accommodation
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Run in partnership with The Trussell Trust, DENS’ Foodbank can provide up to three food parcels to anyone in the community who is struggling.
Food parcels are distributed via our Foodbank in Hemel Hempstead, as well as other local distribution centres across Dacorum.
Our Foodbank staff can signpost visitors to relevant agencies for support to help avoid them facing food poverty, and prevent an ongoing crisis.
The food from our Foodbank is also used to feed service users at our Day Centre, The Elms hostel and for our Social Enterprise Projects.
Last year:
- 4140 food parcels were distributed
- 10282 people received emergency food relief
- 4258 of these were children
WE RELY ON YOUR DONATIONS
