Leave a Gift in Your Will

Leaving a gift in your Will to DENS could help future generations of local people take their next positive step.

Your legacy could offer a safe environment where people facing homelessness can receive expert advice and immediate support. It could provide nutritional 3-day emergency food parcels to struggling families facing food poverty.  It could help someone learn new skills that will enable them to find paid work.

We understand that when you are planning your Will, your family and those closest to you will be your first thought. We ask that once you have looked after family and friends, you also consider leaving a gift to DENS. Even a small gift could make a huge impact, helping empower a local person like Danny…

YOUR LEGACY IS MY FUTURE

Danny was sofa surfing and struggling with his mental health. He needed help and arrived at The Elms hostel. A dedicated Key Worker helped him start to rebuild his life and access support to build his confidence. Since progressing from the hostel, Danny is living independently and training to be an electrician. His future looks much brighter now.

HOW TO LEAVE A GIFT

There are several types of gifts you may consider, for example a fixed amount, a percentage of your estate or an individual item of value. We are grateful for each and every gift no matter the type or size, and we promise to use all gifts in the best interest of our community.

You can read more about the options available to you in ‘A guide to leaving a gift in your Will to DENS‘. To request a hard copy, please email wills@dens.org.uk.

Once you are ready to write or update your Will, we encourage you to seek professional legal advice. DENS cannot offer you legal advice directly, but we can suggest a number of different ways to write your Will:

WRITE YOUR WILL WITH KWIL

We have partnered with Kwil to enable you to write a basic simple Will online for free! Simply use code DENS once you've completed the process.

MAKE A WILL MONTH

We run a Make a Will Month campaign in March, where local solicitors will waive their usual fee in lieu of a donation to DENS.

CONNECT WITH A SOLICITOR

If you're looking for a solicitor, we work with some fantastic local firms who support DENS. Click for further information. If you already have a preferred solicitor then please discuss your options with them.

HOW YOUR GIFT CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

£800

Could pay for enough 3-day emergency food parcels to feed struggling families for two months

£7,400

Could pay for the running of our Day Centre for a whole month, ensuring rough sleepers can access a shower, hot meal, clean clothes and seek advice from a qualified Key Worker

£20,000

Could pay for a year’s Life Skills programme, equipping our clients with the basic skills to live independently and manage their tenancy once they move on from The Elms hostel
