Hostel Support Assistant

Hours – Average of 20hrs a week on a 3 week rota

About the role

We are looking for a Hostel Support Assistant to join our team to support homeless clients who are currently residing at our hostel, The Elms. You will provide assistance for the day-to-day running of the hostel under the guidance of the Hostel Key Workers, undertaking a range of hostel duties including helping with administrative tasks, dealing with resident issues and basic catering duties.

Ideally, applicants will have experience working within a hostel or care setting and working with clients who have a wide range of complex needs.

Individual Giving Manager

Post title – Individual Giving Manager

Hours – Full time (37.5 hours)

Salary – £30,000 – £32,000

Location – Hemel Hempstead

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen. We are looking for an experienced Fundraiser with a proven track record of generating significant income via multiple fundraising income streams.

Leading on a broad portfolio, this role will be responsible for developing and implementing an Individual Giving Strategy to increase income across a range of Individual Giving areas including donations, Regular Giving, Mid-level Gifts, Appeals, Legacy and In-Memory Giving.

As part of a growing and high performing Fundraising Team, you will play a vital role in enhancing our overall supporter experience and donor journeys, creating a clear and robust stewardship programme to build and strengthen relationships, cultivating and nurturing existing donors, as well as prospecting, soliciting and acquiring new supporters.

This is an exciting time to join DENS, and a great opportunity for an experienced Fundraiser who has outstanding relationship-management skills and has significant experience of building long-term and effective partnerships.

The Elms Cook

Post title – The Elms Cook

Hours – Saturday and Sunday 6 hours (approx. 2pm to 8pm but negotiable)

Salary – £11.50 an hour

Contract – 1 year fixed term

Reporting to – The Elms Manager

Location – Hemel Hempstead

About the role

DENS is seeking a Cook to run and manage the kitchen and catering functions at The Elms during the weekend. The Elms is a mixed 44 bedroom homeless hostel in Hemel Hempstead. You will be responsible for delivering a catering service which includes weekend meals for the residents that stay at the Elms. The successful candidate will need to cook 30-40 covers for 6pm on Saturday and Sunday. Experience in working within a school, college or prison is desirable, but not essential.

Bank Worker

Post title – Bank Worker

Hours – Zero hours contract

Salary – £11.25 an hour

Reporting to – Department Manager

Location – Hemel Hempstead

About the role

DENS are looking for Bank Workers, to be employed on a zero hours contract. We are looking for flexible staff with experience in working with vulnerable adults.

You could be working in our 44 bed hostel or our Day Centre, both based in Hemel Hempstead. You will be required to provide person centred support to individuals who could be experiencing a range of problems surrounding homelessness.

An enhanced DBS check is required.

Duties can include:
• Cooking lunch
• Monitor CCTV
• Upon arrival, reading Handover and keep Handover updated through your shift
• Hand out post to residents
• Get crash pad ready/clear up crash pad
• Answer phone and deal with queries
• Update and Issue new key cards
• Supply laundry tokens to residents
• Support the Key Workers
• Assist with breathalysing and drug testing
• Prepare the training room for meetings
• Maintain good relationships with residents and assist them with their day to day needs
