Young Fundraisers

Our young fundraisers never fail to amaze us with all the fantastic ways they raise vital money and awareness for DENS. Whether it’s taking on a sporting challenge, getting creative in the kitchen or even braving a sponsored head shave, every penny raised helps towards rebuilding the lives of local vulnerable people.

Here are just some of our amazing young fundraisers:

Isabella

Young fundraiser Isabella raised an astonishing £963 for DENS after completing a nine hour sponsored silence! Despite finding the challenge very tough, Isabella was determined all day to make a difference for vulnerable local people.  She said: “I wanted to raise this money because I feel that it’s really important that children and adults have homes to live and grow in.”

Jasmine

Jasmine put a big smile on all our faces after sending a wonderful Mail-A-Hug to DENS when she raised a brilliant £61 for giving up her gaming console. To thank her, Jasmine became the first young fundraiser to receive a DENNY The Bear!

Ben

After training hard over lockdown, 14-year-old Ben completed his first ever half marathon – raising an incredible £350 in the process! Ben says he loves fundraising for DENS because “I want to help people who are less fortunate than me and I believe that everyone deserves the chance of a good standard of living and safe place to be.”

Laura

Laura, a brave 10-year-old student at Bishop Wood School in Tring, decided to raise money for DENS by shaving her long hair. Thanks to Laura’s incredible fundraising efforts, she more than doubled her fundraising target by reaching over £2,000!

Isla

Thirteen-year-old Isla raised money by swimming the distance of the English Channel in an outdoor pool. After swimming 2,267 lengths (that’s 34km in distance!) while braving the chilly winter weather, Isla smashed her fundraising target of £1,000 by reaching a grand total of £1,700!

Ava

Before lockdown, 8 year-old Ava prepared a delicious 3-course menu for her friends and family at her very own pop-up restaurant! Ava’s evening raised a fantastic £180 for DENS. Ava said: “We had lots of friends and family who came to eat my food. They brought drinks with them and it really felt like a real restaurant.“

Lavinia, Anne, Lily & Weston

For setting up their very own bake sale in their street, raising a fabulous £60!

Matilda & Florrie

For taking on The 2.6 Challenge by rollerskating 260 laps of their driveway. With some moral support from Betsy they dog, they completed the challenge and raised £300.

HANNAH & BERKHAMSTED SCHOOL team

Hannah and her school friends took on the challenge of covering the distance from Land’s End to John O’Groats (970km) in one week as part of their daily exercise during lockdown. They succeeded to cover 1868.79km and raised a whopping £1520 along the way!
