HR & Culture Officer

Location: DENS locations in Hemel Hempstead/Some home working will be possible
Salary: £28,000 to £30,000 FTE (Part time £22,400 to £24,000)
Hours:  30 hours per week
Reports to: Head of HR & Culture
Closing date: Wednesday 8th October 2025

About the role

This is an exciting new opportunity to join DENS’ HR & Culture team, as the first point of contact for advice and support on all aspects of the employee life cycle, including recruitment, onboarding, payroll administration and training. The successful candidate will support staff and managers with their HR queries. They will work closely with the Head of HR & Culture to review, develop and maintain standard frameworks and documents for all HR processes, to ensure consistency of approach and best practice across all teams at DENS.

About you

  • Part CIPD qualified or relevant working HR experience
  • Experience of working in a small HR team, responsible for all aspects of the employee life cycle. Experience of working in a charity is desirable
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to communicate effectively with volunteers, employees and managers
  • Strong organisational skills to keep track of employee files, schedules and deadlines
  • Passionate about making DENS a great place to work
