Demand for our Foodbank is at an all-time high. Due to the rising cost of living, we saw a 53% increase in people accessing our service in June compared to the previous year.
Many families and individuals are at risk of food poverty, homelessness and the associated mental, physical and social health risks. Worryingly, they are having to make the impossible decision between heating or eating.
How to support us
This Harvest time, we are asking you to organise a collection within your school, place of worship, office or simply just donate some food and hygiene items to our Foodbank. A list of the items we can accept, which are also our most needed items, can be found by clicking here.
In order to keep this critical service running, we also rely heavily on financial donations – which help us to collect supermarket donations and organise incoming food donations so nothing goes to waste. Here’s how your money could help:
• £250 could pay for the running of our vital Foodbank service for a day
• £80 could provide three days’ worth of essential food and household items for two struggling local families
• £20 could help feed a single person facing food poverty for three days
On behalf of everyone at DENS, thank you for any support you are able to give during these challenging times.
If you are organising a collection for our Foodbank, due to additional demand and restraints on capacity, we require all donation drop-offs to be booked in advance. Please book your donation slot with the Foodbank by emailing foodbank@dens.org.uk or calling 01442 250969.
