The worrying state of food poverty

The latest figures released by Trussell highlight shocking levels of hunger throughout the UK, with 2.6 million emergency food parcels provided last year.

Our Foodbank, serving the borough of Dacorum, reflects this extreme demand. In 2025, we provided the equivalent of 127,923 meals, where 41% of those supported were children.

Last chance to experience the Royal Parks Half Marathon

As a charity, we have exclusive access to the final places for this iconic running event on Sunday 11th October – and our sign-up fee is just £30.

Please share this with any runners you know; we’d love to welcome them on board to Team DENS!

Could you be a DENS volunteer?

If you can spare the time to support us on a regular basis, we’re taking applications for several rewarding volunteering roles – from being a van driver for our Foodbank, to assisting at our Day Centre, to selling clothes on Vinted!

We also have some ad-hoc opportunities available, including volunteering at our fundraising events, spreading awareness in the community or leading activities for our hostel residents. To find out more, contact Nicola, our Volunteering Coordinator, at volunteering@dens.org.uk.

Places filling fast for Hemel Hempstead 10k & 5k

As the headline charity for Hemel’s only closed-road running event, we’re excited to offer the lowest price available – with up to £15 off the usual entry fee.

Our first 50 sign-ups also receive a free DENS running t-shirt, but these are going quickly. On top of all this, you’ll get chip timing, free race photos and a finisher’s medal. Don’t miss out!

We’re running low on several food and household items that go into our Foodbank’s emergency parcels, including:

  • Coffee
  • Tinned ham/corned beef
