These incredible young supporters have gone above and beyond to raise vital funds and awareness for DENS. Through inspiring acts of compassion and determination, they have made a big difference in helping to rebuild the lives of local people facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion. To show our appreciation and recognition for these special supporters and their outstanding achievements, we are delighted to honour them as DENS Young Ambassadors.
Laura
Laura, a brave 10-year-old student at Bishop Wood School in Tring, decided to raise money for DENS by shaving her long hair, so she could help people facing homelessness throughout Dacorum.
“I know about DENS through my school because we support the Harvest Appeal. I want to do something to help homeless people because everyone deserves a home. It’s wrong that people don’t have somewhere to stay and something to eat so that every day is a struggle. I want to stop that struggle,” said Laura.
Thanks to Laura’s incredible fundraising efforts, she more than doubled her fundraising target by reaching over £2,000!

ISLA
Thirteen-year-old Isla raised money for DENS by swimming the distance of the English Channel in an outdoor pool. After swimming 2,267 lengths (that’s 34km in distance!) and braving the chilly winter weather throughout November and December, Isla smashed her fundraising target of ÂŁ1,000 by reaching a grand total of ÂŁ1,700!
Isla said: “I can’t imagine how it would feel to not have a roof over my head and to not have enough food. If I could just make a small impact and help just a few people to have a better living situation that would be great.”
