Dear DENS supporter,
For our hostel residents who are ready to take their next step, but still require some support, our Move On service is there to help with the transition.
What makes my job so interesting is that every client’s journey is unique. Each person finds their own way to rebuild and move forward – and it’s a real pleasure to support them along the way.
Painting a brighter future
One of our Move On clients shares how creativity has helped his journey. For him, art isn’t just about making something—it’s a way to express himself and support his wellbeing.
“I think I’ve always liked drawing, gardening – anything creative. Over the years, I’ve spent a fair bit of time on my own, so I thought I’d have a go at painting on canvas…I wanted to produce something abstract that made people think.
Everyone’s got a book in them. If you take a bit of time out, you can create something special.”
Your donation could…
Help clients in our Move On service develop the confidence and skills they need to lead a fully independent future and become active members of our community.

Final appointments remaining for Make A Will Month
We only have a few spaces left in March with our partner solicitors at Harrowell & Atkins, Berkhamsted.
This popular initiative is the perfect reason to finally write your Will. The process is so easy, it costs less than a normal solicitor appointment and your donation helps local people facing crisis. Don’t miss out!

Geoff’s festive fundraising
A huge thanks to our long-term supporter, Geoff, who once again inspired his local network to support DENS through his Christmas appeal – raising a superb £5,002!
We appreciate everyone who donated so generously to this appeal. These vital funds will help ensure that any local person facing crisis can access our services during these difficult times.
Improving access to dental care
It’s reported that 90% of people experiencing homelessness have dental health problems – but many struggle to access care due to cost, availability and the challenge of registering without a fixed abode.
To help address this, we arranged a visit from Dental Community Services, bringing their mobile clinic to The Elms hostel. Our residents received free check-ups and emergency dental care, ensuring they got the treatment they needed.
Could you take on the Royal Parks Half Marathon?
Push yourself to the limit at this iconic half marathon, crossing some of the capital’s most stunning landmarks!
Not only will you achieve an incredible personal milestone, you’ll also be making a real impact for local people facing homelessness, poverty and social exclusion. Spaces are limited, so join Team DENS today!
If you’d like to take on another challenge, check out our great range of new events.
Super support from schools
A big thank you to Year 7 at Tring School, who raised ÂŁ2,423 through their ÂŁ1 Challenge, where each student started with a ÂŁ1 coin and got creative to raise funds.
Also, a massive congratulations to Chesham Preparatory School, where all year groups collectively swam 147 miles in their Swimathon, raising an incredible ÂŁ4,018.
We’re grateful to have such passionate young supporters backing our charity!
