What is the terrain like on the routes?
The 5- and 10-mile routes are not suitable for buggies or wheelchairs.
The terrain of both the 5- and 10-mile routes is a combination of woodland and countryside through fields and pathways, with some challenging areas. Parts of the route include steep inclines, declines and overgrown areas. Weather dependent, the routes may be muddy and slippery, so please take care.
You must acknowledge potential hazards along the route and confirm that you/along with any others youāre registering, take part at your/their own risk.
Suitable attire for all weathers, including suitable footwear, must be worn for either running and/or walking in potentially muddy and/or slippery conditions.
Can I bring my dog?
Friendly dogs are permitted to take part in both 5- and 10-mile routes, but must be kept on a lead at all times. You are responsible for the health, actions and cleaning up after your dog.
How long will it take me to complete the trail?
The 5-mile route is expected to take approx. 1 to 2 hours to walk and 40 mins to 1.5 hours to run.
Our 10-mile route is more challenging. Here’s a general idea of what to expect based on your fitness level:
- Running approx. between 1 to 2.5 hours (we suggest you bring energy gels)
- Walking – you may want to pack picnic – there are many beautiful spots to stop along the way.
- Experienced walkers approx. 2 to 3 hours.
- Participants with a good fitness level approx. 3 to 4 hours.
- New to walking approx. 4 or more hours.
No matter your pace, your participation and commitment are what truly makes a difference. Thank you for supporting DENS.

There will be water stations on the 10- and 5-mile routes. Water and refreshments will also be available at the event village before and after your walk.
