Jamie’s story
After a relationship breakdown led to homelessness, Jamie turned to The Elms hostel. His Key Worker has supported him for over 18 months, guiding him through challenging times and some great achievements.
When Jamie’s children were taken into care, DENS helped him through successful court proceedings to gain more contact with them. Now, Jamie sees his children regularly, while also living independently in his own council flat.

Celebrating our amazing volunteers
We kicked off Volunteers’ Week at the start of the month with a wonderful evening at our annual Volunteer BBQ & Awards.
Pete and Irene Murray were the winners of the Derek Baulch Award for exceptional volunteering. They have supported the Fundraising team for more than five years. Come rain or shine, they are with us in the early hours to help set up our events. They also do great work helping to spread awareness, by placing posters, flyers and banners all around Dacorum.
DENS would like to say a huge thank you to Pete and Irene, and all our other amazing volunteers, for their outstanding commitment and support.
Could you be a volunteer this summer?
If you are feeling inspired to support DENS as a volunteer, we would love it if you could spare a few hours to help us at our next big fundraising events:
Hillbuster cycle ride – Saturday 13th July
Castle Walk – Saturday 14th September
If you can help, please email us on fundraising@dens.org.uk or call 01442 800268.
