Joe Dempsie
Best known for playing Gendry in the award-winning series, Game of Thrones, DENS are delighted to have Joe Dempsie on board as our first official ambassador.
Joe has really got stuck into his new role since starting in late 2019. He has spent time at our hostel, The Elms, talking to our residents about their stories and getting a tour of our dog-friendly facilities.
Joe took part in our flagship Sleepout event, swapping his cosy bed for a sleeping bag and raising awareness of those sleeping rough during the cold winter months.
I’m proud to be an Ambassador for DENS and do my bit to raise awareness of this awesome local charity, as well as highlight the issues of people facing homelessness, poverty, and social exclusion.
Swapping his blacksmith gear in Westeros for a smart tuxedo at our Gala Dinner, a Game of Thrones Monopoly board signed by Joe raised an amazing £850.
Although the pandemic brought our summer 2020 fundraising events to a halt, Joe was the first to get involved in the 2.6 Challenge – setting the task of feeding himself for no more than £2.60 for a full day. Thanks to generous donations from his fans all over the world, this raised an incredible £5,725.
We are so grateful for Joe’s support and can’t wait to see what the future has in store!
